Our History

Dennis George began his funeral service career in 1976 at a western Cincinnati funeral home.  

In 1980 he was transferred to Cleves, Ohio to manage the Argo Funeral Home. In 1996 he left his employer to start Dennis George Funeral Service and in 1998 the present facility was completed. In that time the Dennis George Funeral Home has come to be known as the preferred Funeral Home in the Miami Township-Three Rivers area.

Our location has been specially designed with easy access. Our facility has plenty of parking, and tasteful, comforting furnishings. Our staff has many years of professional experience and service. We're well-trained to give you courteous, friendly service to meet your every need. Each life is an individual story to tell, and we are here to assist you in celebrating the life of your loved one - just as uniquely as the life lived itself.

The Dennis George Funeral Home has received many awards for excellence including the Western Hamilton County Economic Council Beautification Award. Mr. George and longtime staff members Shirley Van Tyle, Gary Liles, Mike Flynn & John Stirnemann have served the community in professional and caring capacities for many years..

  • Dennis George

    Dennis George, Owner/ Funeral Director

    Dennis George, is a graduate of Mount Vernon Nazarene College, Olivet University and Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. He and his wife Gloria, a retired Three Rivers teacher, are residents of North Bend, and the parents of Andrew George (Lauren) and Abigail Mills (Dane) and grandparents of Hudson Mills. Dennis is Past President of Cleves- Three Rivers Kiwanis and the Cleves Merchants Assn., and a board member of the Chevron CAP and TRAM Ministries.

  • Gary  Liles

    Gary Liles, Funeral Director

    Gary Liles is a native of Northern OH and started working in the funeral business at age 14. He is an alum of Ohio Northern University and a graduate of Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. Gary was an associate of Charles A. Miller Sons and Busse & Borgmann Funeral Homes for 45 years and has been an associate of Dennis George Funeral Home for many years. He and his wife Shirley (nee Bauman) have been married for 30 years and are longtime residents of Western Hills.

  • Ward  Colson

    Ward Colson, Funeral Director

    Ward Colson is a native of Hamilton and lives with his wife in Hidden Valley. He is a graduate of Cincinnati Sate and the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. He is a licensed funeral director in Indiana as well as Ohio.

  • Andrew George

    Andrew George, Funeral Director

    Andrew George grew up in Miami Township and earned a BA in Criminal Justice from Mount Vernon Nazarene University. He is a graduate of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Artesia, NM and served as a Border Patrol Agent in El Paso, TX for 4 years. He is a graduate of the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. Andrew's wife, Lauren, is a first grade teacher at Three Rivers Elementary School and they reside in Miami Heights.

  • Shirley  Van Tyle

    Shirley Van Tyle, Funeral Director's Assistant

    Shirley VanTyle is a native of Sayler Park. After graduating from Western Hills High School, she received her LPN training from Courter Tech (Cincinnati State), and finished her clinicals at Christ Hospital. She and her husband Les moved to Cleves in 1972. Their sons David and Stephen graduated from Taylor High School. Shirley is the proud grandmother of Rachel and Alexis. She has been with the Dennis George Funeral Home since 1997.

  • John  Stirnemann

    John Stirnemann, Funeral Director's Assistant

    John and his wife, Grace (Jackson) are longtime residents of Cleves and Taylor High alums. They are the parents of 2 daughters, grandparents of 4 and great grandparents of 1. John is a retiree of Cincinnati Bell.

  • Mike  Flynn

    Mike Flynn, Funeral Director's Assistant

    Mike was born and raised on the west side of Cincinnati. He served the community in law enforcement for 30 years before retiring. He is married to Judy and they currently reside in the Village of Cleves. In his spare time, Mike serves as a chaplain for the Cleves and Addyston police departments and the Miami Township Fire Department.

  • Bob Lacey

    Bob Lacey, Funeral Director's Assistant - In Memoriam

    Bob Lacey was the first employee of Dennis George Funeral Home and died in 2012. Bob was a retired letter carrier, serving the Sayler Park community for some 35 years. Bob and his wife Juanita, lived in Harrison and were active in the Dearborn Hills United Methodist Church, the Cleves-Three Rivers Kiwanis and Meals on Wheels.
