Obituary

Stephanie Sibert (nee Johnston), age 75, of Delhi, passed away peacefully at home on September 30, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Devoted mother of Jeremy Sibert (Anneliese) and Jed Sibert (Jen); loving grandmother ("Ga") of Colin, Avery, Jillian, and Jaxon; beloved daughter of the late Pat (nee Tuthill) and John Johnston; dear sister of Chris Johnston and the late Jeff Johnston. She is also survived by her beloved nieces, Maggie and Caroline, along with many extended family members and friends.

Stephanie retired from The Community Press, where she managed newspaper routes throughout the Delhi and Price Hill communities. She was a lifelong crafter and artisan whose handmade Appalachian-inspired creations were shared through her business, Back of Beyond, at craft shows throughout the region and later through The Greenbriar Shop in Indiana.

A talented gardener and decorator, Stephanie was known for creating beauty in every season. Her home reflected her love of craftsmanship, tradition, and the Great Smoky Mountains, a place she cherished and visited throughout her life. Whether tending her award-winning yard, decorating for the holidays, or working on a new craft project, she found joy in creating warm and welcoming spaces for family and friends.

In her later years, Stephanie and her former husband, Jack Sibert, found their way back to one another as companions and friends, sharing a special bond that brought comfort, support, and laughter during life's later chapters.

Stephanie's final days were spent in her home, surrounded by the love of family. Her kindness, creativity, and independent spirit will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Habitat for Humanity or Friends of the Smokies.
