Russell James
Clark
Apr 27, 1949 — May 28, 2026
Russell James Clark, of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away on May 28, 2026. He was born on April 27, 1949, in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Russ was a proud Army veteran who served during the Vietnam War where he was critically injured after stepping on a landmine, resulting in the loss of both legs below the knee. Despite unimaginable challenges, Russ fought to survive and returned home determined to live life fully and without limitation.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who cherished time with his family. He became an inspiration to countless people, using his disability as a double amputee not as a setback, but as an opportunity to educate and encourage others, all while maintaining an unmatched sense of humor. Russ was the definition of a hero.
Russ was preceded in death by his parents, William and Jane (Overbeck) Clark; his brother, George Clark; and his sister, Debbie Kennedy.
He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 50 years, Vickie (Pfaff) Clark, whom he married on September 4, 1976; his five daughters: Angie (Darrin) Cliffe, Missy (Kevin) Hughes, Amber (James) Tenhundfeld, Tiffany (Kevin) Berting, and Abbie (Jeff) Robison; his brother Greg Clark; his mother-in-law Betty Pfaff; his brothers-in-law Gary and Scott (Cari) Pfaff; and his sister-in-law Linda Clark.
He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren Sammy (Kyler), Brittany, Logan (Tara), Sydney (Jason), Morgan (Colin), Peyton, Prestin, Colton, Sage, Jade, Paxton, and Stryker; great-grandchildren Ridge, Maisie, and Stella; and many more nieces, nephews, family members and loved ones.
The legacy of Russ’s strength, humor and love for his family will continue to inspire those who knew him, and he finally rests pain-free.
