Patricia Smyth (“Pat”), peacefully entered into God’s presence on January 4, 2023 while surrounded by her family. Pat was 84.
Pat was born Patricia Marie Dwyer on May 21, 1938 in Cincinnati to Thomas Ellsworth Dwyer and Anne Marie Tierney Dwyer. After graduating from St. Xavier Commercial School, Patricia began working as an Administrative Assistant, ultimately to become a Program Specialist for the Internal Revenue Service until her retirement in 2000.
On July 30, 1966, Pat married the love of her life, Donald (“Don”) Smyth at St. Bartholomew Church in Cincinnati. Pat and Don had four children, David, Ann, Donna and Jill. Pat was deeply committed to her family, constantly making time to visit them and to help with the care of her eleven grandchildren. Pat was also deeply committed to Christ and her faith, evident in her commitment to service, welcome, and hospitality to all she encountered.
Pat is predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Anne, her brothers William, Thomas, Daniel and John, and sisters Maureen and MaryAnn (Conner). She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Don, sister Kathleen Powers of Cincinnati, son David Smyth (wife Shelley, daughter Lydia and sons Noah and Joel) of Indianapolis, daughters Ann Marie Healing (husband Dave, son Joshua, daughter Abigail) of Chicago, Donna Hutchinson-Smyth (husband Jeff, sons Soren and Quinn) of Cincinnati and Jill Hicks (husband Jonathan, sons Elijah and Reuben, daughters Kalilah and Pearl) of Stanton, KY, many nieces and nephews (and their families), and her beloved cats, Winston and Truly.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Christ Covenant Church, 2191 Struble Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45231 on January 14, 2023 at 12pm. A livestream option will be provided here closer to the date. A viewing will precede the service, beginning at 10am at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Aruna, a local organization bringing lifelong freedom to victims of human trafficking
