Edith C. Felix

April 3, 1931 — June 28, 2020

Edith C Felix (nee Rudisell) Age 89 passed peacefully on June 28 following a 6 month decline in health. Beloved wife of the late William B. Felix, loving Mother of Robert Felix (Katherine), Susan Sturgill (Steve Applegate), William Felix, Gregory Felix, Catherine Steinriede (Mark) & Jeffrey Felix (Linda), loving grandmother of Chris Felix, Justin, Jacob and Jared Sturgill, Bill and Brad Felix, Clayton Steinriede and Marlee Felix, blessed with 7 great grandchildren, Dylan Jane, Maddox, Sydney, Olive, Noah, Enzo and Luca. Beloved daughter of the late Minnie (nee Moak) & Fred Rudisell, dear sister of Janet, Helen, Annamae, Idabelle, Ray, David, the late Fred and Jean. Also survived by nieces and nephews.
Laid to rest within sight of where she was born in Cleves, Edie lived her entire life within 5 miles of the village. Edie was a proud woman who lived life on her terms. Raising her six children, all of whom attended local elementary and junior high schools and graduated from Taylor High School, Edie grew to know multiple generations of the local community. Strongly encouraging and supporting her children's education, knowing that to be their key to success, she never missed a PTA meeting or Parent/Teacher conference. Similarly, she attended decades of school related sporting and other activities her children and subsequent grandchildren participated in.
After the first half of the family left the house, she began a career at the IRS, first part time as a mail sorter and then full time, eventually retiring as an executive assistant to a department of IRS agents.
As the last of her children left home, and with the untimely early passing of her husband Bill in 1986, Edie transitioned to a second life. She immediately joined the Miami Township Senior Center and began to renew longtime childhood and early adult life friendships. That circle of friends was the center of her life once her family was raised. As an active member for over 33 years she worked the front desk welcoming generations of new members, continuing to expand her social circle. The Center allowed her to maintain an active role in, and connection with, the local community. She also adopted new hobbies, never missing her card games, line dancing or group dinners. For years she led the annual candy sale, a key fund raising event for the center. And she enjoyed traveling the country on Center trips, never having the opportunity to do so while raising her family. She especially loved shopping for new clothing and accessories for each trip.
She had joined the North Bend United Methodist church. And enjoyed the warm connections that the church provided.
She was a mainstay in the community - never missing the parades, often attending (holding court at) the American Legion fish fries, and still doing walk-in banking and post office visits. At home she enjoyed watching her beloved Reds, and kept up to date on her second family - the QVC hosts she grew to know so well. She will be missed by innumerable generations of friends and acquaintances.
